Our history
AS 'STARTED ....
I am Stefania Mattelloni and I live in an estate near Rome where I realized an amateur breeding of Golden Retrievers and Sacred of Burma named “Code di Zucchero”. My estate is included in a spectacular valley, an enchanted place near the park of Veio, 35 minutes from Roma Nord between Formello and Campagnano of Rome. I thank God every day for giving me the courage to move here and radically change my life. I am an architect but after nearly 20 years of activity, my profession is slowly turning into a hobby because my animals undertake me full time. The love for nature has been the main theme of my last years and the incentive that has disrupted my previous models of life.
Even when I lived in Rome and for a long time while I exercited my profession, I created an amateur breeding of parrots which, with passion and sacrifice as still I do, I weaned hand. In my little garden I created a little corner of paradise where 3 dogs, 70 parrots 1 chinchillas and 1 rabbit lived together in harmony , free to integrate and relate to each other. However, each time I could I flee to the countryside with Ginevra, my first golden retriever, to ride my horse and to enjoy open spaces and green valleys I dreamt when I was in Rome. In 2005 I put into practice a definite change in my life. I moved with my animals, with all my office to the verdant hills at North of Rome.
In 2006 I created a pension for dogs and cats planned to offer my hosts a luxurious holiday. Approval of my hosts has been the true award of the undertaking. With the same attention and care I laid the basis of “CODE DI ZUCCHERO” my amateur breeding of Golden Retrievers and Sacred of Burma.
My long experience in breeding parrots has prepared me to the devotion necessary during the phases of breeding puppies.
I thank the breeders of my first Golden for having given them a good education and basic socialization. On arrival Caramel, Isabeau and Bea have proved able of accepting the new rules imposed by me made of greater attention and discipline while remaining always enthusiastic and ready to play as my Ginevra. The desire to please their masters and to learn new things are typical characteristics of golden and precious requirements for its education. I can always coun on their help for the inclusion of dogs guests of the board.

Particularly those somewhat out of their element or too lazy. As good entertainers, with their enthusiasm, they have often supported me in doing so that the newcomers exceeded the temporany difficulties due to detachment from their masters.
It is easy to guess what, seeing that the composition of the family is made up of so many and diffferent animals (permanent and temporany), socialization of puppies and kittens in breed, is truly exceptional. Obviously this socialization happens gradually and only in right stages of life of puppies . A puppy born in this environment will be delivered to the final family with a load of experience, difficult to achieve out of here (people, cats, horses, parrots, rabbits, and dogs of all kind but never aggressive, water, swimming-pool, music, different sounds, etc.)
Every puppy may, whenever his master desire it, return to use the facilities, enjoing free spaces and swimming-pool or it may come to spend short or long periods of holiday. An then I met the sacred cats of Burma and I became infatuted at the first meeting. For years I have come across articles on sacred cats of Burma , I paused to read with interest, being fascinated by the pictures attached.
And then I met the sacred cat of Burma ...
The decision to breed them instead came by chance; in fact, when I have had one of these dogs in pension for 21 days, Filippo, which normally lives at home with three labradors, I have immediately been in love with this engaging guest. I was fascinated by his very affectionate nature and its indescribable beauty. Later, I made inquiries about the characteristics of this race and I discovered that their character is very similar to that of dogs retriever, especially the golden, of which they are considered the feline version. With semi long hair like golden retriever, they have their same sweetness and the same attachment to family.
The sacred of Burma are very loyal and affectionate cats, very attached to the family in which they live and they are also extremely sensitive. At the same time they are able to withstand travels and changes in home. They need calm, as the golden retriever, tenderness and dialogue with their masters from which they don’t bear to stay away for long time as it also happens to the golden retriever. They willingly play even in adulthood. They are peaceful cats and, above all, they love being with children. Finally, they are cats which suit perfectly to life in apartment and not feel the need to go outside. They adapt well to living with other cats provided that these latter are not aggressive individuals as well as with other pets as balanced. At first, I starter buying two beautiful cats Kintamani, verifying kindness and adaptability in home. After less than a month, I began to get the others. My choice to buy again beautiful subjects with very high pedigree was motivated by a destre to make a race selection, in order to obtain subjects of high quality. Their soft presence in my bed makes my sleep peaceful and populated by serene dreams. In fact, all my sacred cats of Burma , over-privileged, sleep in the house, often close to me, under the supervision of the most molly-coddled of the family the ara ararauna Federico that, when in the evening it cames back home, it check their games from his tripod located in the hall.
The other family cats, European cats and folk, sleep on the ground floor with the whole family of dogs, being less demanding animals with innate tendency to freedom and predatory practiices. Observing, every day the effects of that promiscuity and the consequent social relationship, is very interesting and fun: you can see cats that rub on dogs purring or dogs that lick cats affectionately, so realizing a true animal Bengodi. My golden retrievers, my sacred cats of Burma and many other animals of my property live with me and they are my family. I have equipped for them the ground floor of my houses and, in turn, the golden dogs sleep at home to live, every so often, the experience of being an only child.. Of corse, the shift is interrupted when there are litters. Then the house is at disposal of puppies and their mother until completation of weaning. My golden and my sacred will always remain with me and get older here, as other my dogs are already doing – Ginevra, Kitty, Barnaba, and the three big dogs adopted, Juca, Perla and Fischio and my 5 like-European cats, that live free and integrated at all - Picchio, Buco, Cri-crò, Blu and Musci (last kitty arrived alone), all my parrots and my horses because each of them is, in its own way, unique and basic to our family life.
